Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our real estate and construction firm.

The Quantity Surveyor will play a crucial role in managing costs, procurement, and contractual matters for construction projects, ensuring financial efficiency and adherence to budgetary constraints.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of quantity surveying principles and practices.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for construction projects, including materials, labor, and overhead costs, to support project planning and procurement activities.

Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and measurements from architectural and engineering drawings to accurately quantify materials and resources required for construction activities.

Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, negotiate pricing and terms, and prepare subcontract agreements and purchase orders to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.

Key Performance Indicators:

Accuracy of cost estimates and bills of quantities, measured by variance analysis between estimated and actual project costs.

Adherence to project budgets and cost control measures, including cost-to-complete forecasts and percentage of project completed within budget.

Timeliness and accuracy of payment applications and invoices, ensuring prompt payment and cash flow management.

Quality of quantity surveying documentation and reports, including clear and concise communication of findings, recommendations, and cost analysis.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.

Professional certification in quantity surveying or related field (e.g., RICS, CIOB) preferred.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in the real estate and construction industry.

Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Cost Management:

Comprehensive knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control principles to manage project costs effectively and optimize financial outcomes.

Proficiency in procurement processes, contract negotiation, and subcontract management to secure favorable pricing and terms for materials and services.

Technical Proficiency:

Familiarity with quantity surveying software and tools, such as CostX, Bluebeam, or Autodesk Quantity Takeoff, to facilitate quantity measurement and cost analysis.

Attention to Detail:

Meticulous attention to detail in quantity measurement, cost analysis, and documentation to ensure accuracy and reliability of quantity surveying data.

Teamwork:

Collaboration and teamwork skills to work effectively with cross-functional project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to achieve project objectives.

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex technical information, negotiate contracts, and collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.

Problem-Solving:

Ability to identify and resolve quantity surveying issues, contractual disputes, and cost-related challenges in a timely and effective manner.
